With Tottenham in superb form so far this season, many believed they could contend with Jose Mourinho's men... even in Harry Kane's absence through injury.

However, the loss should really come as no surprise.

After all, Spurs have won just FOUR of their last 96 Premier League games away to Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United.

In a truly remarkable stat, Tottenham average won win every SIX years away to the Premier League giants... or won in every 24 matches.

Spurs' last win against one of the Big Four came on January 1, 2014 - when they beat United 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Christian Eriksen scored the goals that day to snatch a rare win, despite Danny Welbeck's efforts for the hosts.

That day, Spurs won another tight game 3-2, as goals from Jan Vertonghen, Gareth Bale and Clint Dempsey bagged the Londoners their first win at Old Trafford in 23 years.

A year earlier, on May 15, 2011, Tottenham managed a rare league win at Anfield, when they edged past Liverpool.

Rafael van der Vaart and Luka Modric scored that day as Harry Redknapp's Spurs leapfrogged the Reds in the table.

Their fourth and ONLY other win away to one of the Premier League giants came against Arsenal on November 20, 2010.

That day, Tottenham grabbed their first win away to the Gunners in 17 years in a thrilling 3-2 victory, thanks to strikes from Bale, Van der Vaart and Younes Kaboul.

To this day, Spurs have still NEVER beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League...
