Speaking in the pre-match press conference, the Belgian defender spoke about the two European marksman, but insisted he'd rather have Kane as a team-mate.

He said: "Obviously they're both unbelievable players. Ronaldo has his qualities and Harry has his.

"We've got to show respect to Ronaldo for everything that he's won over the years, and that he's still doing and the level he's still playing at.

"It's hard to compare because they're different types of players, but Harry is, for me, one of the best number nines in Europe - maybe the best.

"He shows that every week and I wouldn't swap Harry for any player at the moment."

Kane has banged in 17 goals for club and country this season - and has netted nine times in his last six outings in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has scored five Champions League goals this campaign - a brace against Borussia Dortmund was followed up with a hat-trick away at APOEL.

Both Tottenham and Madrid sit on level in Group H with seven points apiece, with a win for either side all-but confirming their entry into the Round of 16.
