Arsenal vs Tottenham: North London derby is perfect for Jack Wilshere and Alexandre Lacazette to burst into life
Englishman ought to be given a chance on Saturday - even if it comes at the expense of Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez
THE North London Derby is the perfect opportunity for Arsene Wenger to reintroduce Jack Wilshere into Arsenal's starting XI.
For the first time in living memory (for me anyway), the Gunners go into a home clash against Spurs as underdogs.
Mauricio Pochettino's side go into the game sitting joint-second in the Premier League, while Arsenal currently sit four points behind their North London rivals in sixth, after yet another fumbling start to a campaign.
The Gunners are in danger of being left behind by Tottenham this season if they lose on Saturday.
It one of the most important North London derbies in Wenger's 20 years at the club.
After their poor show up against the rampant Manchester City a fortnight ago, most Arsenal fans will be looking for a bit of fight and spirit in a game that means much more than just three points, however important they may be.
And Wenger need look no further than Jack Wilshere to ignite the flames of what is certain to be a fast-paced and high-tempered battle.
The Englishman has impressed when called upon so far this season.
BET ON IT Jack Wilshere set to leave Arsena as Real Betis ‘believe they are close’ to signing England midfielder for free
And the majority of fans have now got to a point where they would prefer the academy graduate to start - even if it's at the expense of world class duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Along with Wilshere, Wenger must also start French hotshot Alexandre Lacazette.
Latest Arsenal news
The striker has scored six goals in nine starts since joining, as well as netting twice for France against Germany in midweek.
The former Lyon man scored after coming on against City last time out, and fans will be expecting him to play from the start against Spurs after being dropped in previous big clashes.
They say form goes out of the window in derby games.
But Arsenal will be relying on their home form - ten wins in the last ten league games - to carry them through a tie which may define their season.
