Danny Welbeck in mood for Arsenal take-off against Tottenham after a month’s lay-off
Striker looks as though he'll make North London derby by leaps and bounds after impressive training workout
DANNY WELBECK looks as though he passed Friday's fitness test with flying colours - quite literally.
The Gunners' centre-forward took off with a leap over keeper Petre Cech in training that Olympic long jumper Greg Rutherford would have been proud of.
Welbeck has been sidelined with a groin strain he picked up in the 2-1 defeat to Watford last month.
But the former Manchester United man looked in great shape as Arsene Wenger put the lads through their paces at London Colney.
Every match is important, but this was all about the build-up to Saturday's mouth-watering derby with Tottenham.
Olivier Giroud is set to miss the game, which could mean the returning Welbeck takes the Frenchman's place on the bench.
Arsenal Transfer Stories
Giroud linked-up with his country during the international break and picked up a thigh injury during the pre-match warm up ahead of France’s friendly with Wales last Friday.
Welbeck has been in full training this week along with Shkodran Mustafi who could also return.
BEARDED GENIUS Antonio Conte reveals why he is growing a beard for the first time
Said Wenger at his pre-match press conference: “Mustafi will have a final check tomorrow, Welbeck as well, I will make decisions on them tomorrow.
“Giroud picked up an injury, I don’t think he will be available. It’s short term, we have to assess him on Monday.”
Laurent Koscielny could also be available despite feeling pain in his Achilles while away with France this week.
The Gunners will be desperate for a victory at the Emirates as they are currently in sixth place and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.
Spurs are four points and three places above them.
