Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has now missed 100 Gunners games through injury… but that’s nothing compared to physio favourites Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby

ARSENAL star Santi Cazorla suffered yet another setback in his bid to get back to full strength, after being forced into undergoing yet another surgery.

The Spanish star, 32, has already been out of action for over a year with the heel problem - having already nearly lost his foot due to infection.

Now, Cazorla has missed an incredible 100 Gunners games - set to be 101 when Arsenal host Huddersfield on Wednesday night.

The former Villarreal playmaker has missed 65 matches with his Achilles issue, while missed a further eight due to a heel problem earlier in 2016.

On top of that, Cazorla missed 20 games in 2015-16 with a knee injury, as well as a further seven in 2013 with an ankle knock.

Despite that, the Spaniard doesn't even come close to Arsenal's physio favourite...

Jack Wilshere, currently working his way back to full strength has missed a whopping 155 matches at his boyhood club.

But both are utterly dwarfed by Abou Diaby - with 250 games missed through injury... nearly as many as Wilshere and Cazorla combined.

Earlier on Wednesday, Cazorla tweeted his current situation, clearly frustrated with the setback.

Cazorla said: “Due to some discomfort in the tendon over the last few days, I have had to return to the operating theatre.

"This will delay my return to the pitch but I maintain my enthusiasm and motivation to once again enjoy my great passion, football."

Spain international Cazorla has been out of action for over a year, undergoing surgeries that resulted in him losing eight centimetres from the tendon in his right foot.

In an interview with Marca earlier this month, the Gunners ace explained how doctors came close to amputation after he contracted a potentially life-threatening infection.

Cazorla said: "If you manage to walk with your son again in the garden, be satisfied, they told me.

"He saw that I had a tremendous infection, that I had damaged part of the calcaneus bone and ate the Achilles tendon, I was 8 centimetres missing!"
