What do Manchester United need against CSKA Moscow to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages?

Jose Mourinho's men complicated their Champions League qualification with 1-0 loss to Basel

MANCHESTER UNITED are hoping to wrap up Champions League qualification with a win over CSKA.

The Red Devils will be looking to make a statement after failing to mathematically qualify as they were beaten 1-0 by FC Basel.

What do they have to do to qualify?

United are on 12 points in Group A, but crucially CSKA and Basel trail by just three points.

If Basel beat winless Benfica, and Jose Mourinho's side lose to the Russians it would go down to results between the three teams.

With both games against Basel and one against CSKA already played, United are in a commanding position in this respect.

The Red Devils would only be knocked out if CSKA Moscow were to triumph by seven goals at Old Trafford.

They will also top the group, regardless of other results, provided they do not lose by four goals to the Russians.

CSKA Moscow's best chance of qualifying is by winning in Manchester and hoping Basel fail to win away to Benfica.

Viktor Goncharenko's side technically have their fate in their own hands, but would need to win by three goals to qualify if Basel triumph in Lisbon.
