Nemanja Matic will travel with Manchester United squad to face Arsenal on Saturday despite still being major injury doubt

Midfielder limped out of United's win against Watford at Vicarage Road and is a major doubt for vital clash at the Emirates

NEMANJA MATIC will travel with the Manchester United squad To Arsenal on Saturday.

Matic limped off in the second half of United’s win against Watford on Tuesday with a leg muscle injury.

And boss Mourinho will give the 29-year-old every chance to be fit for the vital clash at the Emirates.

The Serbian has been outstanding since joining United from Chelsea in the summer and is expected to have a late fitness test on Saturday evening when the squad arrive in North London.

Mourinho said at his pre-match presser: "He is selected to go, let's see the feeling before the match, let's see the warm-up.

"He’s travelling with the team, he’s going to try and hopefully he can, but I cannot guarantee he is ready."

If Matic loses his fitness race, Ander Herrera is expected to step in after starting the last three games on the bench.

The United boss has confirmed defensive pair Eric Bailly and Phil Jones miss out through injury.

Meanwhile contract rebel Marouane Fellaini is still not available, the midfielder who missed the midweek win at Vicarage Road has failed to recover from a knee injury.

United are short of options in midfield with Michael Carrick easing back to fitness after his health scare.

Youngster Scott McTominay who featured in last seasons defeat at Arsenal will be the first midfield option from the bench if Matic is out.

Versatile teenager Axel Tuanzebe who started the game at the Emirates in May could also step into a central midfield role if needed.
