Everton ace Wayne Rooney returns to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United in action against CSKA Moscow
The Toffees ace sat next to former Red Devils team-mate Michael Carrick in the stands during the Champions League clash
WAYNE ROONEY showed he is still a red at heart after returning to Old Trafford to watch his former team-mates in action against CSKA Moscow.
The Everton star - who left the Theatre of Dreams in the summer - sat in the directors box next to Michael Carrick during the Champions League match.
But things didn't go to plan during the first half for the Red Devils, after they fell behind to a controversial goal just before half-time.
Russian international Alan Dzagoev put his side 1-0 up, but their lead didn't last too long as Romelu Lukaku fired his side back on level terms in the 65th minute.
And it was 2-1 moments later when Marcus Rashford lashed home in the bottom right corner to lift Rooney out of his seat.
It was a finish United and England's all-time greatest goalscorer would have been proud of.
The Everton ace netted 39 European goals in 98 games for United between 2004 and 2017, helping his side lift the Champions League and Europa League.
And he will be hugely missing European nights after the Toffees crashed out of the Europa League with a game to spare.
TOFF LUCK Everton join West Ham and Southampton in race for Gunners star Theo Walcott
But he will be hoping to finish the group stage off with a win when Sam Allardyce's men travel to Cyprus to face Apollon Limassol.
Rooney has been in fine form of late for Everton - recently netting a breathtaking hat-trick against West Ham to bring his tally to the season to eight goals in all competitions.
