Wayne Rooney backs Olivier Giroud for Everton move as striker has his say on Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil
Gunners striker rejected move to Goodison Park last summer despite coming close to agreeing terms with Ronald Koeman
WAYNE ROONEY has backed Everton to move for Olivier Giroud.
Roo reckons striker Giroud, 31, should be starting at Arsenal and fits the bill for what is needed at Goodison.
He said: “I think we could do with another striker in.
“The one player for me who has to start is Olivier Giroud. He scores goals and every time he comes on he scores, he’s a handful and hard to play against.
“For me, if he starts games for Arsenal they are a better team.”
Giroud turned down a summer move to Goodison — when former Everton boss Ronald Koeman was in charge — to fight for his place at the Emirates.

But Wazza believes Arsenal should have sold Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
He added: “With the two of them in the summer not signing contracts, I think that told you everything. The way it is, I don’t think they will be at Arsenal.

“And they should have taken the money and looked elsewhere because, although they are top players and it is difficult to let them leave, when the going gets tough — as it is at the minute for Arsenal — you want players who you can trust to put it in for you.
“If they are not going to be there at the end of the season, maybe there are a few question marks.”
