luck out
Jose Mourinho claims Bristol City were ‘lucky’ in sensational last-gasp Carabao Cup win over Manchester United
Korey Smith's late goal sparked wild celebrations in Ashton Gate but Red Devils boss insists his side were unfortunate
JOSE MOURINHO claimed Bristol City were "lucky" following their stoppage time win over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
But Mourinho insists there was luck involved in the famous victory.
Speaking after the defeat, he said: “They were a bit lucky but fought a lot to be lucky.
“They played brilliantly and fought like it was the game of their lives.
“It was a brilliant day for football — congratulations to them. We lacked the intensity that they had.
“It was just one more day in the office for my players — a day some of them didn’t even want to come to the office!
“When big teams face teams from lower divisions this is always a risk.”
Bristol City led through Joe Bryan for just seven minutes before Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalised with a free-kick.
