Arsenal transfer news: Gunners leading Manchester United in race for Juventus ace Daniele Rugani

Arsene Wenger will reportedly make a £35.4million offer to the Serie A giants for the Italian international centre-half next month

ARSENAL will launch a £35.4million move to bring Juventus star Daniele Rugani to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old defender has struggled to secure a spot in the starting XI for the Serie A champions this campaign.

And the Gunners want to take advantage of that situation by offering him an escape route next month, according to Il Posticipo.

Rugani was dropped for 3-2 defeat at Sampdoria last month and is now believed to feel his future lies away from the Old Lady.

Mehdi Benatia has been in great form for Juve, and if he maintains that then the Old Lady could be forced to sell Rugani due to his demand for regular action.

However, Arsenal face competition for his signature from one of their main Prem rivals.

Manchester United are also reportedly keen on the Italian international.

BRIGHT TARK Arsenal plotting surprise move for Burnley defender

He was loaned back to his boyhood club for two seasons and made 78 appearances for them.

The ace has played 78 times in the top-flight for the Turin side since his return and won four caps for his country.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also eyeing up a number of other defensive targets.

Reports emerged this morning that Arsene Wenger is monitoring the performances of Burnley's James Tarkowski.

The 25-year-old has been in stunning form for Sean Dyche's side this season.

The Clarets have only conceded 12 goals in 18 Premier League matches, allowing them to gatecrash the top six, and Tarkowski has been an integral part of that success.

And now The Times claim his performances have caught the eye of both Pep Guardiola and Wenger.

Burnley will reject any interest in the former Oldham man in next month's transfer window as they aim to continue their remarkable start to the campaign.

The centre-half is only under contract until 2019.

That could put the Clarets in a tricky situation next summer as they will have to decide whether to cash in or offer him a bumper new deal.
