Arsenal star Mesut Ozil tops Barcelona’s five-man January transfer shopping list

German World Cup winner is out of contract in the summer but the La Liga leaders are ready to try and nab in next month

MESUT OZIL is one of five players on Barcelona's January transfer hit-list, according to reports.

The Arsenal playmaker is out of contract in June and could leave the Emirates for a cut-price fee next month.

And Marca are reporting that the La Liga leaders are ready to try and bid for the former Real Madrid star.

Ozil, 29, has hit good form in the last few months after suffering some criticism from fans for some lacklustre performances.

Barca reportedly rate him as their top transfer target and are prepared to pay to stop him joining another club on a free next summer.

Arsene Wenger has still claimed Ozil will sign a new contract but it looks certain he will end his five year spell in North London after joining for a then club record £42.5million.

Manchester United are also interested in Ozil but will wait until the summer rather than pay a fee for him.

And the Gunners would likely want to sell him to a foreign club than let him join a Prem rival for nothing.

Marca also claim Nabil Fekir and Aleksandr Golovin are also on Barca's New Year shopping list.

Schalke’s star duo Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka are also being looked as the Catalan giants look to strengthen before the busy end of the season.
