Alexis Sanchez spotted returning home from ‘mini-break’ in Paris as Arsenal future remains in doubt

The Chilean international is expected to move on a free at end of his contract as he has previously rejected a contract extension at the Emirates

ALEXIS SANCHEZ has stoked transfer rumours after he was reportedly pictured in a Paris airport yesterday.

Gunners fans are bracing themselves for the Chile ace's exit with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.

According to Get French Football, Sanchez arrived in Paris after he was given two days off by Arsenal.

It has since emerged that Sanchez was stopping over in Paris on his way back to London after spending Christmas with his family in Chile.

The Chilean, 29, was denied a move to Manchester City last summer and Arsene Wenger has maintained throughout the season that he will not be sold in January.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are among the frontrunners to sign him with an Emirates exit now looking inevitable.

The Chile forward has struggled for form lately, with recent performances being well below his high standards.

However, Wenger insists he has not received any offers in relation to Sanchez moving on next month.

He told the Mirror: "We have not been approached by anyone. Other than that I stand by what I have said before.

“In the transfer window I will be busy.

"Clubs will contact us to buy and loan players and I will be open to any possibilities to strengthen our team.”

Arsenal fans might also take some hope that Sanchez's trip to France was only reportedly a mini-break, rather than to do business.
