Arsenal star Jack Wilshere reveals he is desperate to start talks over new deal

Gunners midfielder shone in 3-2 win at Crystal Palace then told of his desire to pen a new contract at his boyhood club

JACK WILSHERE revealed he is desperate to start new contract talks with Arsenal.

The England midfielder, 25, who set up Alexis Sanchez’s second goal with a sublime 30-yard pass, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Wilshere said: “I feel fitter, I’m getting better with each game.

“It’s another game and another three points.

“I spoke to the boss and he said he would speak to me, so lets see. I hope the deal gets done.”

Boss Arsene Wenger claimed he will open contract talks next month.

Wenger said: “Jack is coming back into competitive shape.

“He gives something to the team at the moment and gave a good final ball for the third goal.

“The situation is we need to sit down with him at the start of January as planned. There’s no delay.

“I said we would sort out his situation at the end of December and so I told him we want to meet to talk about the future.”

And the Frenchman was content with the Gunners’ showing at Selhurst Park.

He added: “Although at 3-2 it became nervy and less controlled, overall it was a good performance.”

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson said: “We didn’t pressurise them as well as they did us, which is a recipe for disaster against a team of their quality.”
