Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils and PSG put on alert as Cristiano Ronaldo asks Real Madrid to sell him
The Portugal international earned The Best FIFA Men's Player award for the second time in October, and retained the Ballon d'Or this month to join Lionel Messi on five titles
CRISTIANO RONALDO has reportedly asked Real Madrid to set a selling price for him so that he can leave the club next summer.
The Daily Record claims Ronaldo is hoping that Los Blancos will let him move on for £89million or less.
Once a fee is agreed the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's representatives will inform Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain of the 32-year-old intention to "fight for a move" if necessary.
The Portugal international current contract runs until 2021 and contains a £887m release clause, which he believes to be excessive.
The report claims the Ronaldo's agents are seeking assurances from Real honcho Florentino Perez that he is prepared to sell the Portuguese for "a realistic fee."
Sources close to the player claim that Ronaldo's relationship with Perez is as bad as it has ever been.
The relationship has deteriorated so much that "he [Ronaldo] doesn't even want to talk to the president."
The row all stems from the former Sporting Lisbon forward's belief that Perez has gone back on a promise to improve his wages so that Ronaldo has parity of income with some of the sport's best paid players.
Despite winning The Best FIFA Men's Player award for the second time in October, and retaining the Ballon d'Or this month to join Lionel Messi on five titles, Ronaldo is paid less than both Messi and Neymar.
