And French winger Martial is expected to be in the team after he was pictured with the rest of the squad at The Lowry Hotel.

Mourinho has continued a tradition first used by Sir Alex Ferguson to prepare his teams at the exclusive hotel.

Rooms can cost up to £1,000-a-night for a suite at the plush riverside location.

United have block booked the hotel for every home game this season, with Mourinho going through final preparations as he hopes to end a three game winless run.

Youngster Axel Tuanzebe was also pictured at the Lowry and could make his first appearance of the season.

The 20-year-old defender was on the bench against Burnley, but has not played since the final game of last term.

Mourinho continued his war of words against Manchester City on Friday.

Pep Guardiola's team are now 15 points clear at the top of the table having picked up an 18th consecutive victory against Newcastle United in midweek.

The Special One said: "I don’t want to take any credit from what City are doing. But it’s difficult.

"Is it possible? Yes. But if you don’t have that financial profile of a club where there are no limits, there is only one way — patience and calm and time.

How many new stars must Manchester United sign?

"For example, we bought a striker in the summer — a very good striker — but that was to replace Zlatan [Ibrahimovic].

"It was not him and Zlatan in the best of their form from day one."

Mourinho has also revealed he will try and sign "two or three" players next summer.
