Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reveals “there is a little chance” Mesut Ozil will be fit to face Chelsea
The Gunners playmaker was left out the Gunners squad to face West Brom on New Year's Eve as he nurses a slight knee injury
MESUT OZIL has been left out of the Arsenal squad to face West Brom at the Hawthorns.
The 29-year-old wasn't even named amongst the substitutes as Arsene Wenger rests the German playmaker ahead of Wednesday's home clash against Chelsea.
Ozil is nursing a slight knee problem, and the Gunners boss will not risk further injury by fielding the World Cup winner against the Baggies.
The ex-Real Madrid ace has played every minute of Premier League football since November 29, and has netted three times and set up two goals in the last seven games.
Fans immediately speculated that his absence was conclusive evidence that he was leaving the Emirates as he continues to be linked with a switch to Manchester United.
But Arsenal's official Twitter account eased supporters' fears, as they said: "There's no @MesutOzil1088 in #WBAvAFC - he misses out with a slight knee injury."
And Wenger revealed that he is in danger of missing the match against the Blues.
When asked whether he would be available, the Frenchman said: "There is a little chance."
