Everton news: Toffees boss Sam Allardyce hoping to tie up £25m transfer of striker Cenk Tosun ‘in next 24 hours’

EVERTON hope to tie up the £25million transfer of striker Cenk Tosun "in the next 24 hours".
Speaking after losing 2-0 at home to Manchester United, Toffees boss Sam Allardyce revealed the club are now playing a waiting game to get the deal over the line.
He said: “We’ve done all we can, so I would presume we’ll know in the next 24 hours if it’s been successful.
“We need a bigger goal-scoring threat.
“I can’t guarantee whoever we get will score goals, but I hope he does.”
Everton were well off it today against a United side who themselves have struggled for consistencey of late.
In fact the Toffees failed to register a single shot on target in the entire game.

“We know where our problems are, the club knew before I got here that was the problem.
“We’re trying to cure that in this window by getting a frontline that can threaten and score goals.

“Until then we have to be a team who can only win if we get a clean sheet, for me. That’s a fact, it’s one we have to face.
“We have to be defensively solid.”
SunSport revealed this morning how Tosun has agreed personal terms with Everton and is scheduled to arrive at Goodison on Tuesday.
He will pocket £145,000-a-week to swap Champions League football for the Premier League with Allardyce's team.
Everton will fork out £25m for the striker, who posted a picture of himself on Oxford Street today, with another £3m in add-ons.
Allardyce will allow Oumar Niasse to leave the club when the German-born Turkish international arrives.
