Manchester United fans slammed after claims they aimed ‘disrespectful chant’ at Wayne Rooney

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were slammed on social media for apparently directing a "disrespectful" chant at club legend Wayne Rooney.

Old Trafford's all-time leading goalscorer starred for Everton in the Toffees' 2-0 defeat to Jose Mourinho's side at Goodison last night.

But it has been claimed that some Reds fans chanted "you fat b*****d" at the former England skipper.

Andrew Pranoto wrote on Twitter: "When United fans start to chant fat b*****d to Rooney, you know the level of the freaking club. Shame."

Another said: "Utd fans were shouting 'fat b*****d' towards Rooney. Their all-time leading goalscorer. Led them to many titles and this is how they respect him."

A fellow user posted: "Man U fans who are insulting Rooney aren't United fans! He is a United legend! Part-time supporters make me sick!"

One posted: "Wayne Rooney is a legend at this club yet our own fans chant you fat b*****d at him today.

"Anyone who did does not respect the legend that Rooney and chants stuff like that are not true fans but plastic."

However, some claimed those in the crowd were actually shouting "you Scouse b*****d".

One wrote: "Everton fans applauding United fans for chanting 'Rooney'. Then they laugh as United fans chant 'you Scouse b*****d."

Another prominent Man United account posted: "First of all the United fans were singing 'you Scouse b*****d' and secondly it was sandwiched between the 'Rooney' chant and the 'white Pele' chant from the United fans!

"Bit of banter with the United fans but of course there's an overreaction!"

One more account said: "'You Scouse b*****d' is the chant from the United fans, directed at Wayne Rooney, who is United's all-time top goalscorer. Backward t***s."
