Manchester United in talks with Sevilla over reducing £133 Champions League tie tickets

But the Premier League outfit are reluctant to subsidise the cost themselves as they fear it would 'set a precedent' that clubs would take advantage of

MANCHESTER UNITED are in talks with Sevilla in a bid to get the Spanish side to lower the price of tickets for their Champions League clash in February.

SunSport revealed last month that Red Devils fans will be charged as much as £133 for the chance to see their heroes play.

And even the cheapest ticket will set fans back £89.

But now the Daily Mail reports that the Premier League giants are "in discussion" with their Spanish counterparts in the hope that there could be a change to the current pricing.

United are reluctant to subsidise the const themselves however, as they "do not want to set a precedent and give opposition clubs a licence to up prices in the future".

The tickets, around 2,650, were put in a ballot for fans to purchase.

However the club will now email all those who have bought tickets telling them that talks are ongoing to try and reduce admission prices.

Last season Sevilla charged Leicester fans £51 to watch their Champions League clash.

And last month Liverpool supporters had to shell out £54 to watch their heroes play in the Spanish city.

It may well work out that the £89 Red Devils fans will pay out will be more than some of their flights out.

Elsewhere Chelsea have the ominous task of facing Barcelona in the Champions League last 16.

Manchester City may be more pleased than their Premier League rivals as they will face Swiss side Basel.

Tottenham will be away and then home to Juventus, while Liverpool were drawn to play Porto over two legs.
