FANS believe Swansea's contest with Tottenham is in real danger of being abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.

Conditions at the Liberty Stadium are dreadful and the lashing rain is starting to leave standing water on the pitch.

Supporters are drenched in the stands as players struggle to string passes together on the soaked turf.

Players are also finding it difficult to keep their footing and the pitch is quickly being dug up.

Despite the fears the match is likely to go ahead with the home side looking to get back into the game.

It appears the conditions appear to be helping Swansea with the likes of Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen reluctant to play his sweeping passes.

And viewers watching the encounter unfold on TV believe the match could be abandoned if the heavy rain continues.

One wrote: "Not sure the Swansea v Spurs will go the distance. Puddles already forming on the pitch and it's lashing down."

Another said: "I can see this match being abandoned before long."

A Swansea supporter joked: "Our best chance here is if the game is called off due to a waterlogged pitch" while another quipped: "Swansea Spurs could be called off, savage amount of water on the pitch."

Mauricio Pochettino's side went ahead early on when former Swans striker Fernando Llorente made the most of his rare start.
