Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid could be on as Spanish side send delegation to London to sort deal

Costa could be heading back to Chelsea this week - and sorting dream move back to Rojiblancos

DIEGO Costa’s dream move back to Atletico Madrid could be getting closer with reports the Spanish side has sent a delegation to London to thrash out the deal with Chelsea.

The Spaniard has been AWOL since the end of last season and has been left in limbo while the rest of his Blues team-mates get on with business.

But the Express has reported that officials from the Rojiblancos are due to meet with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia in a bid to bring him back to the Spanish capital.

Diego Simeone’s side cannot sign players until January because of a transfer embargo, but want to get the deal agreed.

They are willing to up their offer of around £32million for the player, which was the amount Chelsea paid them for the striker when he joined in the summer of 2014.

Costa is thought to be returning to Chelsea this week, which would tie in with the arrival of the officials from Madrid.

Images this week showed him driving his car in his home town of Logarto.

The 28-year-old was spotted in his Mercedes SUV, on the same day Blues chiefs moved his luxury Range Rover from the first-team car park at Cobham.

It was then dumped into the youth team area as the row between club and player continues with another bitter twist.

Costa is furious with the way Chelsea handled the transfer window.

And he still longs to return to the Vicente Calderon, where boss Diego Simeone has just penned a new deal which will keep him there until 2020.

Costa has already been out of action for the first month of this season, with Stamford Bridge manager Antonio Conte no longer considering him in his plans for the campaign ahead.
