Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku ruled out of FA Cup clash against Derby after head injury
The Red Devils star was brought off in the first half against Southampton on Saturday, as Jose Mourinho confirms he will miss next two games
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has revealed Romelu Lukaku has been ruled out of Friday's FA Cup clash against Derby.
The 24-year-old striker suffered a head injury against Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday after clashing with Wesley Hoedt in the ninth minute.
He required oxygen from medics as they rushed to his aide, before he was stretchered off the field of play at the Theatre of Dreams.
When asked of the severity of the Belgian internationals injury, Mourinho said: "I don’t know. I know that normally bad, bad news arrives immediately.
"Bad news didn't arrive. I think that there’s a problem for the next two matches. For sure."
Lukaku will also miss the Red Devils' New Year's Day clash against his former side Everton at Goodison Park.
But thankfully for the former Chelsea forward and Mourinho, his injury is not believed to be serious.
Belgian news outlet HLN claim that United will give a full update after Lukaku's scans are completed later on Sunday.
