Our first home game of the new season sees just about the most unwelcome visitors we could face. The Reds kick off their Premier League campaign at Anfield at 3pm on a Saturday, UK time – a rarity in itself, having only had two at home all last season. And, like  Marco Silva’s Watford last week, we face a team under a new manager, Palace’s Frank de Boer. De Boer had just about as bad a start as it’s possible to get, a 3-0 home defeat by newly promoted Huddersfield Town, managed by Klopp’s mate David Wagner.

This is the first of three successive home games, with the return leg of the Champions League play-off tie against Hoffenheim on Wednesday evening before Arsenal visit next Sunday, August 27th.

Like Liverpool, Palace have three new signings in their ranks, but two are loanees: Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea and Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Manchester United. They are joined by Dutch defender Jaïro Riedewald from Ajax for £7.9m. The Eagles sold striker Fraizer Campbell to Hull City.
