Vincent Janssen is “set to be frozen out” at Tottenham after refusing to leave the club on deadline day, according to The Mirror.

The Dutchman turned down late moves to West Brom, Stoke and Brighton.

Spurs signed Spanish striker Fernando Llorente from Swansea City on deadline day, which means Janssen’s chances of first-team football are now even slimmer than they were a week ago.

To make matters worse, Mauricio Pochettino has left Janssen out of Tottenham’s squad for the Champions League group stages.

The Mirror claims Daniel Levy warned the 23-year-old he would be frozen out if he didn’t leave, but Janssen refused to go.

As a result, it’s unlikely Janssen will be playing for the first-team any time soon.

  1. Im hoping this is the usual “paper talk” nonsense and that Janssen will be given a fair chance to stake his claim. It’s strange to name 21 players and leave Janssen and Lamela out when they are allowed to name 25, but I hope there was a good reason behind that… Not sounding too great tbh…

  2. I totally agree! Janssen is a great player who gives 120%every game I have seen him play! He should be getting more time and chances Ffs! You don’t just turn into a bad striker overnight,he is young and hungry. He will be outcasted and will score tons of goals when he finds a new club then we will all be regretting letting him go.Look how long it took lamela to get going for us!! I really like Janssen and am saddened he is being treated like this.

  3. For me Jansen has so much potential and just needs patience and above all, game time. He needed to go out on loan to another PL side to develop. Now that is out of the question until the next window, 6 months with a top championship side should be the priority and reassess in January. Mark my word, with his work rate and effort he will come good. COYS

  4. I agree – was at Roma game (friendly in NJ) and he was instrumental in getting Spurs 2 comeback goals in waning minutes down 2-0. Roma scored in stoppage and stole a victory but Janssen was the most dangerous striker on the pitch so not sure why they’re ostracizing him… if Kane or Llorente get a ding we will need him in my view.
