Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger says Alex Iwobi could make Premier League debut against Swansea

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has hinted that he could give Alex Iwobi his Premier League debut against Swansea this weekend.

The 19-year-old winger made his first-team bow on Tuesday night as the Gunners crashed out of the Capital One Cup with a 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

In that clash both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott picked up injuries, ruling them out of action until after the upcoming international break.

And Iwobi is now battling it out with Joel Campbell to start on the right wing for the Premier League clash at Swansea on Saturday.

"Campbell and Alex Iwobi [could play out right]. Santi can play there as well but he has become very important centrally," said Wenger.

"The problem sometimes is that you can destroy two departments if you move one player out. We control the ball better with Santi in the middle."
