Arsene Wenger ‘more frustrated than disappointed’ after late goal denies Arsenal victory

Manager Arsene Wenger says he was ‘more frustrated than disappointed’ with Arsenal’s 3-3 draw at Liverpool in the Premier League.

This fixture has brought some fantastic matches over the years and this was another exciting encounter, brought to you live on talkSPORT.

Liverpool twice took the lead as Arsenal came from behind to take a 3-2 advantage.

The Reds still trailed going into injury time and substitute Joe Allen volleyed an equaliser, to deny the Gunners the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Wenger told talkSPORT: “I am more frustrated than disappointed because disappointed would be that we had a bad performance and that was not the case.

“Overall we turned up with a strong performance.

“I am frustrated because we conceded the goal we did and I am frustrated as well because at 3-2 we had many chances where we could have made it 4-2.

“We made bad decisions and sometimes I think we should have been able to transform that domination into 4-2.”

French striker Olivier Giroud scored a fine double to take his season tally to 20 for club and country and Wenger said he is pleased with Arsenal striker’s form.

The north Londoners’ boss added: “He played very well tonight again and is improving in every single game.

“It was a very positive performance for him and he develops and shows everybody that he is able to play for Arsenal Fotoball Club.

“It was a top-level entertaining game, six goals - it was one too many for me - but overall I cannot be too disappointed with the performance.”
