‘I’m not concerned by poor Premier League start,’ claims Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed he is not concerned about his side’s poor start to the season, despite an uncharacteristic 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.

While it was only their second game of the campaign, it followed a troubling 2-2 draw with Swansea City where players looked out of sorts.

But the Portuguese boss has insisted it was just a case of incidents going against his team, including a yellow card for a Fernandinho elbow, which he believes should have been a red.

“I’m not concerned. That’s football,” Mourinho said.

“Sometimes you start magnificently and sometimes you don’t start so well. Sometimes things go in your favour and sometimes things go against you.

“In this game I think the only thing which didn’t go against us was the fact our goalkeeper, in the first half, made three magnificent saves. Apart from that, everything went against us.

“The yellow card to Fernandinho went against us [it should have been a red]. The best team in the second half was Chelsea and we couldn’t score.

“The best team in the first half won and the best team in the second half lost.”
