A Manchester derby in Southern California?

After last summer’s failure to hold a Manchester Derby abroad in Beijing due to a heavy rain that cause the pitch to be completely unplayable, Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly close to an agreement to play a match in the International Champions’ Cup in the United States in the summer of 2017.

United officials visited Los Angeles in the past few weeks to check out many possible facilities for the game, including the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. This seems to be an early favorite out of the possible game locations, as Jose Mourinho loves to play preseason games in LA.

City are used to playing preseason matches in the United States, as they played in New York and Houston, as well as a match up north in Toronto, Canada, in the past. Pep Guardiola also visited the US both as Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager over the years, so this wouldn't be uncharted territory for the City boss.
