On the move: Frank Lampard is wanted by MLS club LA Galaxy (Picture: PA)

Frank Lampard has agreed terms on a move to MLS side LA Galaxy, according to reports.

The midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is said to have been refused an extension by current club Chelsea.

Arsenal and Manchester United were both monitoring Lampard’s situation, however it is being suggested that Galaxy have won the race to sign the midfield veteran.

‘It’s all but done,’ a source told Goal.com

During Chelsea’s tour of North America last year, Lampard hinted he would like to play in the MLS in the future but would wait to see if the Blues extended his contract first.

‘I am not sure [about a future in MLS],’ Lampard said at the time.

‘I have another year on my contract at Chelsea and we have a big season ahead of us with the Super Cup and the Club World Cup in December. It’s up to Chelsea to speak with me about my future and, at that time, I’ll speak with them.’

With the extension not coming to fruition, the US seems to be a perfect fit for the England international and gives him the chance of prolonging his career for a few more seasons playing in a competitive league.
