Chelsea have made such a poor start to the new Premier League season that Jose Mourinho has even started mentioning relegation.

The reigning Premier League champions have picked up just 4 points in 5 games so far and have conceded more goals than any other team in the league.

And with Manchester City already 8 points clear of Chelsea with a game in hand, Mourinho has perhaps abandoned hope of challenging in the title race and instead turned his attention on the relegation battle.

That’s because the Portuguese manager actually mentioned relegation after the 3-1 defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday.

‘We cannot be scared of relegation,’ Mourinho said. ‘Dortmund were in the relegation zone last season.’

The 52-year-old boss also admitted Chelsea’s run of results are the worst of his career, but maintained he’s still the man for the job.

He added: ‘I don’t blame my players, I don’t blame myself. I don’t accept the result.

‘I’m not feeling under pressure. I’m feeling the results are the worst ever in my career.

‘I’m the man for the job. I’m the man who did so many good things for Chelsea I’m the man.’
