Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho took a hammering on Twitter after Eden Hazard hoofed a penalty way over the bar against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League.

Hazard has probably never taken a worse spot-kick for the Blues and many were quick to remind Mourinho of the time he said the Belgian winger was better than Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

‘Last season, yes Hazard was better,’ Mourinho said back in July.

‘In spite of the fact that Ronaldo was fantastic. He was fantastic. He scored an incredible number of goals.

‘I am not saying he is not fantastic. I am just saying that, in my personal view, every football player in the world should understand that a team has to be in front and no titles.’

The missed penalty couldn’t have been more poorly timed seeing as Ronaldo has scored eight goals in his last two games.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Hazard woeful penalty attempt…

Fortunately for Hazard, Chelsea ran out 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Willian, Oscar, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas – but he’s still got a lot to improve on.
