Mesut Ozil was man of the match for Arsenal against Manchester City on Monday…which was made all the more impressive by the fact that he had been ill with a chest infection all week.

The German’s assist tally rose to 15 after he registered two more against Manuel Pellegrini’s side, setting up Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud for both of Arsenal’s goals.

And after the win, manager Arsene Wenger revealed that the 27-year-old had been suffering from a chest complaint in the week leading up to the match.

‘He had a chest infection for the week and was in bed,’ said Wenger.

‘He had only one training session yesterday and for a guy who could not prepare well he has done very well physically.’

Not bad for a ‘lazy’ player, right?
