Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes Ligue 1 has improved now that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has left Paris-Saint Germain.

Ibrahimovic’s departure from Paris has made French football worth watching again, according to Mourinho, who thinks the league has become more competitive.

The enigmatic Swedish striker, who is now 35-years-old, spearheaded a PSG domination in France and won the league title in each of the four seasons he was under contract at the Parc des Princes stadium.

‘I think people in France have to be happy that he [Ibrahimovic] left. Because now you have a league,’ Mourinho told SFR Sport.

‘With him, there was no league. It was Paris, Paris, Paris. League, Cup, League Cup, Super Cup. Everything. And now you have a league,’ the Manchester United manager added.

Mourinho also went on to reveal that he has personally started paying more attention to Ligue 1, watching Mario Balotelli’s resurgance at Nice who are competing Leonardo Jardim’s Monaco side for the title.

‘Now you have a league that I watch,’ he said. ‘I am interested. Nice, Balotelli, Monaco, my friend Leonardo [Jardim] and Paris. Now I watch Ligue 1 so you have to thank him (Ibrahimovic) that he left.’
