Javier Hernandez has thanked Jose Mourinho for his praise and claims that he has ‘evolved a lot’ since his time at Manchester United.

The 29-year-old completed his £16 million move to West ham earlier this week and Mourinho admitted he would have ‘welcomed’ the striker back at Old Trafford if he didn’t have Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford in his squad.

Hernandez will face his former club in West Ham’s opening game of the new Premier League season and the Mexico international is keen to test himself once again in England.

‘I say thank you to Mourinho and all the people around Man United that speak about myself and my qualities,’ Hernandez said at his unveiling at West Ham on Friday.

‘I am going back to my old club and my old house in Old Trafford. I am 100 per cent to help my team win the three points and start the season on the right foot.

‘I have evolved a lot since I left Man United but I would prefer to show it rather than just talk about it.

‘I wanted to challenge myself again. That’s the way I am and I want to improve as a person and as a footballer.’

Hernandez also reveals he had other options before joining West Ham.

‘I had other options in Spain, two in Italy,’ said the striker.

‘The last two transfers I made on the lasts day of it, now this was more calm.

‘I wanted to be here and hopefully I can have a very good season.’
