Manchester City players expect Alexis Sanchez to swap the Emirates for the Etihad this summer, reports say.

The Sky Blues stars are so confident the Arsenal star will be a City player by the end of the transfer window, that they are openly discussing how he will fit into the side.

The Manchester Evening News claim Pep Guardiola’s efforts to push a £50million deal for Sanchez has his players convinced he will arrive in the coming weeks.

Arsene Wenger has already insisted Sanchez will be staying at Arsenal and said he believes his contract situation is ‘ideal’.

Sanchez has a year left on his current deal and has reportedly told Arsenal he will not be signing a new contract.

Arsenal are extremely reluctant to sell Sanchez this summer and do not want him to join a Premier League rival.

But, City players have already debated where Sanchez will play in their side and what his arrival means for their current attackers like Sergio Aguero.

Aguero has been linked with a summer switch, but Guardiola has dismissed reports he is interested in a move.

City are waiting for Arsenal to crumble under the pressure on them to either cash in on Sanchez or tie him to a new long-term contract.

Guardiola expects Wenger to relent in the closing weeks of the window and is confident Sanchez will be his star new attacker.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil are also in the last 12 months, but Wenger’s latest comments on the contract issues at the Emirates suggest the Frenchman is not worried.

‘It is an ideal situation – everyone has to perform,’ said Wenger.

‘When you are a player you perform until the last day of your contract.

‘It doesn’t change if you have one year or two years left.

‘Do you really think they sit in the dressing room and think

‘I only have one year to go, I will not play well today’.
