The Community Shield between Arsenal and Chelsea will kick off at 2pm, an hour earlier than it is traditionally held.

Arsenal will look to begin the season on a high by beating London rivals Chelsea, just as they did in their last game of the 2016/17 season.

The time change, which was made earlier in the summer, is to avoid the possibility of the game clashing with the Women’s European Championship final.

England are a game away from securing a spot in the final with their semi-final match against the Netherlands on Thursday.

The FA consulted with BT Sport and it was decided a change would be best for all parties, 2pm is an hour earlier than the traditional kick-off time.

Channel 4 are airing the final and are hoping for big numbers if the Lionesses make it past the Netherlands. 3.3 million people watched the quarter-final win over France.

The Community Shield is a rematch of the FA Cup final in which Arsenal came out 2-1 winners over Chelsea.

Neither Chelsea or Arsenal objected to the time change, according to the Sunday Times.

Arsenal and Chelsea are likely to field strong line-ups with both sides boasting expensive new forwards.

Alexandre Lacazette is now a Gunner, and their record signing, while former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata joined Chelsea in another big-money move.
