Anthony Martial has told Manchester United he is happy to move to Inter Milan on loan should the club green light a player-plus-cash deal for winger Ivan Perisic, according to reports.

The Red Devils are in the market for an attacking player to add to their ranks this summer, with Jose Mourinho making no secret of his desire to make a fourth signing before the window closes.

Speaking before Nemanja Matic’s arrival, he explained: ‘Another one an attacking player, especially that can play through the wings to give me more attacking options but I never speak about players that belong to other teams.’

United have been in talks with Inter for months over a deal, though the Italians have been demanding as much as £50 million – a fee the Europa League winners have baulked at – and also requested Martial in exchange.

And now, according to Calciomercato, Martial has given his consent to a potential swap and would be happy to move to Milan and test himself in Serie A.

Mourinho is still reluctant to allow him to leave, though, even on loan, and negotiations continue between the two clubs.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, there is a general sense at Inter that Mourinho will eventually cave in and cede to Inter’s demands.

United have already brought in Romelu Lukaku from Everton, Victor Lindelof from Benfica and Matic from Chelsea, but are desperate to land a world-class winger to complete their squad.

Mourinho has never seemed particularly impressed by Martial, using him mainly as a squad option last season.

Perisic, meanwhile, was one of Inter’s leading lights in an otherwise unspectacular campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing a further 11 assists, while he strengthened his case to move to Old Trafford with an impressive goal and display against Chelsea in pre-season.
