Barcelona have contacted Atletico Madrid about the availability of Antoine Griezmann, reports say.

The attacker was the subject of intense speculation earlier in the summer with Manchester United chasing a world record transfer.

But, after Atletico were hit with a transfer ban Griezmann committed himself to the club.

Griezmann’s decision ended any talk of a move this summer, but the impending departure of Neymar from Barcelona has prompted the Catalan giants to consider all options.

Spanish publication Sport claim Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been in touch directly with the CEO of Atletico about Neymar.

Miguel Angel Gil Marin told his Barcelona counterpart that Griezmann was not up for sale this summer at any price.

The report suggests Bartomeu accepted Gil Marin’s answer and will not agitate for a move.

Bartomeu assured the Atletico boss that Barcelona would not move for Griezmann, but did admit the France international was a player that interested the club.

Atletico remain convinced Griezmann is going nowhere and have not been approached by any club since United backed off earlier in the summer.

Griezmann’s pricetag was being mooted at around £89million, but reports claim the 26-year-old’s newest deal has his release clause set at €200m.

But, it is also believed that Griezmann will be available for €100m next summer with his release clause set to drop again.

United will not be happy to see Barcelona enter the race as the Red Devils continue to covet the goal scorer.

When Atletico refused to do business and Griezmann dropped his efforts to depart Spain, United turned to Romelu Lukaku who they signed last month.
