Arsenal have sounded out a move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, according to reports in France.

Arsene Wenger remains in the market for a new midfielder who is capable of playing on the flanks and Monaco’s Thomas Lemar remains his top target.

But Telefoot claims that Arsenal have enquired about Coman’s availability this summer, although Bayern are not open to discussing a deal and the player wants to stay with the German champions.

The 21-year-old started only 10 Bundesliga games last season but his campaign was heavily disrupted due to a knee ligament injury.

Coman initially joined Bayern on a two-year long deal in 2015 but that move was made permanent in April when €28 million was paid to Juventus.

The France international, who has been advised to improve his German by Franck Ribery, insisted this week that he faces an important season with Bayern as he looks to make Didier Deschamps’ squad for next year’s World Cup.

‘I will try to work more and even harder in the future, so that we can all benefit at the end of the season,’ he told SportBild.

‘We are facing a very important season, both as a team and for me personally.’
