Marseille are reportedly still keen to seal the transfer of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer as they keep tabs on his situation at the Emirates Stadium.

The 30-year-old struggled for regular playing time last season and will find his place under threat even more this term with the signing of Alexandre Lacazette up front, as well as Alexis Sanchez surprisingly staying at the club.

The Gunners will see Giroud as a useful squad player and a reliable option off the bench, as he performed well in more of a super-sub role last season.

Still, the France international has attracted interest from a host of clubs this summer as his future has looked in some doubt, with West Ham and Everton said to be his biggest admirers in the Premier League.

Marseille will hope, however, that they can lure Giroud back to France, and are ready to leave it late to swoop for the striker this summer, according to Le 10 Sport.

While the former Montpellier man seems settled at the moment, Marseille will look again at his situation if he struggles for games in the early part of this season before the transfer deadline at the end of August.

Manchester City misfit Wilfried Bony is reportedly also being considered by the Ligue 1 giants, who are in the market for a big man up front this season.

Arsene Wenger recently insisted Giroud would be staying in north London, saying he’d responded well to the extra competition from Lacazette.
