Olivier Giroud intends to honour his contract at Arsenal despite being strongly linked with a summer departure.

The French striker, who joined the Gunners in 2012, has two years remaining on his current deal at the Emirates.

Giroud only started 11 Premier League games last season, often playing second fiddle to Alexis Sanchez, but still contributed 16 goals in all competitions.

Following Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival in north London, Giroud has been tipped with a summer move with Everton and a number of French clubs registering an interest in the 30-year-old.

But, speaking after Arsenal’s Community Shield triumph at Wembley, Giroud insisted his future lied at Arsenal.

‘I’m an Arsenal player,’ the talisman told French outlet SFR Sport. ‘I have a contract of two years still.’

Giroud also reiterated his desire to win a Premier League title with the Gunners – the closest the France international has come to lifting the trophy was two years ago when Arsenal finished second behind Leicester City.

Speaking about Giroud’s future at the club last month, Arsene Wenger stressed the striker’s importance to his side despite his limited appearances last season.

‘It has been a frustrating season for him because he has not played a lot. And when he has played well, he has not always played the next match,’ Wenger said.

‘He has won us a lot of points when he has come on because he has scored lots of times. He has qualities that our team need.’
