Judging by the tunnel cam footage from Chelsea’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, Alvaro Morata doesn’t quite feel comfortable in his new surroundings just yet.

The Spanish striker, who joined from Real Madrid in a £70 million deal, came on for the final stages of the match at Wembley before missing his penalty in the shootout.

That allowed Arsenal to clinch the first trophy of the season – which Michy Batshuayi seemed to find very amusing – and leaves Morata still waiting for his Chelsea career to ignite.

And in behind-the-scenes footage from Sunday’s match, Morata looked like he was still finding his place in the Chelsea dressing room, speaking more to Arsenal’s players than his new teammates.

Weirdly, the Spaniard seemed to avert his gaze entirely as he walked past his teammates and back onto the bench ahead of the start of the second half.

But he looked rather more enthusiastic to see some of Arsenal’s Spanish contingent, greeting Santi Cazorla – who is currently injured – with a warm embrace prior to the start of the match.

He also exchanged words with Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin, and seemed particular sad to part ways with the right-back when they went to their respective dressing rooms at half-time.

Curiously, one shot from the tunnel cam footage shows a team sheet with Morata’s name crossed out of the starting XI and Pedro listed instead, which suggests the younger Spaniard might have been in line to start but was dropped at the last minute.

Morata, who scored 15 goals from just 14 starts for Real in La Liga last season, has spoken previously of his struggles to settle in to life at Juventus.
