Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wasted no time getting rid of his Super Cup runners up medal by handing it over to a fan.

Mourinho has never been one to hang to runners up medals, and medals in general and sought out a United fan after the trophy presentation.

United were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid and most of the players, including Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, took off their medals straight after receiving them.

Mourinho immediately made his way over the United support and hopped over the banners to give his medal to a fan.

The United boss also waved over his players to show their thanks to traveling sport that followed them to Macedonia on Tuesday night.

It was a classy moment for the Red Devils boss who will be disappointed to start the new campaign with a loss.

United are straight back in competitive action this weekend as they begin their Premier League season against West Ham.

Mourinho will have been pleased to see his side rally in the second half after being outplayed for an hour.

Real took a 2-0 lead before £75million summer arrival Romelu Lukaku pulled a goal back.

Marcus Rashford had a superb chance to level the game, but it was not to be for United who begin the new season with a Super Cup runners up medal.

Real became the first side since 1989 and 1990 to win the Super Cup in two successive season.
