Paris St Germain have ended their interest in Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.

The news will come as a huge boost to Arsenal in their bid to keep the Chile international at the Emirates.

With 11 months remaining on his contract, speculation over his future has been intense.

PSG, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have been the clubs most persistently linked with the 29-year-old.

However Arsenal want Sanchez to remain – at least for the length of his contract and potentially for longer if he can be convinced to sign a new deal. Arsene Wenger has said he expects Sanchez to ‘respect’ his contract.

Hopes of him remaining are boosted if PSG have pulled out of the race.

According to The Telegraph that is precisely what has happened. They claim that the French club wanted either Neymar, Sanchez or Kylian Mbappe this summer and having secured the former have ended their interest.

They report that Neymar, who they signed from Barcelona for £198million, was their first choice ahead of Sanchez.

Sanchez could yet leave the Emirates but there is a growing sense that he will see out his contract at Arsenal. He joined the team for the Community Shield victory over Chelsea on Sunday and appeared happy.

If he were to move Man City are the most likely destination. The player is said to be keen on a reunion with Pep Guardiola while the club have the finances to back up their interest.
