Juventus are lining up a shock £22.5million bid for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini and are hopeful Jose Mourinho will let him go following the arrival of Nemanja Matic.

Matic, 29, completed a £40million move to Old Trafford at the end of July and was man of the match in United’s 4-0 win against West Ham on Sunday.

Fellaini had been linked with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray earlier this summer but Mourinho said it would be ‘easier’ to hire him as manager than to prise the Belgian away from the Theatre of Dreams.

However, United have since added Matic to their squad and Fellaini is behind Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Matic and Michael Carrick in the pecking order.

Juventus have been targeting a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi but the Sun report they will move for Fellaini if that deal falls through.

The Serie A giants value Fellaini at around £22.5m, which is roughly £5m less than what United paid Everton for Fellaini in 2013.

Mourinho remains unlikely the sanction the midfielder’s departure and it would need Fellaini to ask to leave Old Trafford to see the deal happen.
