Manchester United made a blistering start to the new Premier League season in more ways than one.

Jose Mourinho’s new-look side were immediately propelled to the top of the table courtesy of an emphatic 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday with record signing Romelu Lukaku marking his debut with two goals.

The Special One appears to have moulded a side bearing many of the hallmarks of his title-winning Chelsea outfits, with a steely defence protected by powerful enforcer in Nemanja Matic and an attack laden with pace, one which looks absolutely devastating on the break.

Indeed, according to Opta data, three Manchester United players clocked the fastest sprint speeds recorded in the Premier League over the course of the opening weekend.

Perhaps, surprisingly, Paul Pogba, who capped a dominant midfield display with his side’s fourth goal, topped the list reaching a speed of 21.5mph as did his new partner in crime Lukaku.

The Walcott prevented a clean sweep of United players taking the top three positions by hitting the 21.4mph during his substitute appearance against Leicester last Friday evening, while Marcus Rashford was only narrowly behind with a speed of 21.3mph.
