Manchester United could re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this month, according to reports.

The striker is currently a free-agent after his contract at Old Trafford expired earlier in the summer.

He is sidelined by an injury sustained at the end of last season and is yet to commit to any club. With his knee injury keeping him out until early next year, there has been no rush to resolve his future.

In the meantime he has been given permission to use the facilities at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex.

That has increased the sense that when he returns to action it will be as a Manchester United player.

Jose Mourinho is understood to have him in his plans with the Daily Mail reporting that the Manchester United manager wants him enlisted for the knock-out stage of the Champions League.

That won’t be until next year, but it’s reported Manchester United want to show willing by offering him fresh terms as early as this month.

Those terms will be greatly reduced from his contract last season during which he reportedly earned £367,640 per week.

His return will provide competition for summer signing Romelu Lukaku, who has become Manchester United’s new first-choice striker.

Considering his impact last season, in which he scored 28 goals in all competitions, he could be a real threat to the Belgian.
