Manchester United fans took to Twitter to mock Alvaro Morata after the striker made his first Premier League start for Chelsea in their 2-1 win over Tottenham.

Antonio Conte voiced his frustrations in midweek, with the Blues short on numbers ahead of the London derby, and Morata started the Wembley clash despite reservations over the forward’s fitness.

Chelsea supporters were quick to criticise Romelu Lukaku for choosing Old Trafford over Stamford Bridge earlier this summer and continue to troll their former player for his first touch despite the Belgian scoring three goals in his opening two league games.

However, the tables turned on Sunday afternoon, with Morata struggling to find his feet in Chelsea colours despite Conte’s men pulling off a fine victory away from home, with Marcos Alonso’s goals either side of the break.

Morata somehow missed the target with a header from close-range in the fifth minute, to put the away side in front, and failed to recover before being replaced by Michy Batshuayi in the second-half.

Morata still looks a long way from his best and several United supporters got revenge for Lukaku by trolling the Spaniard for his disappointing display – highlighting his poor touch throughout.

It’s clear the former Real Madrid man has some work to do with his new team-mates on the training field.
