Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has re-ignited talk of a possible transfer to the Premier League.

The Borussia Dortmund striker was at the centre of intense speculation at the start of the summer, however he and his club appeared to end any possibility of a move last month.

Dortmund put a July deadline on any chance of him departing – which passed, and Aubameyang publicly stated he would be remaining with the Bundesliga side.

Aubameyang at the start of August…

‘None of the clubs that wanted me could make it happen. So I’ll stay here at Borussia Dortmund. I like staying here very much, as I feel at home in Dortmund.’

‘I am still reflecting on whether I should leave or not.

‘This is the question I keep on asking myself – and I don’t have an answer. I need time to think about it.

‘If I want to grow, I surely need to leave this summer. I am 28 and I need to grow.’

Aubameyang had been strongly linked with Premier League pair Chelsea and Liverpool.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is desperately seeking reinforcements before the close of the transfer window and is reportedly keen on a new striker, despite having already signed Alvaro Morata.

Liverpool meanwhile have been largely frustrated in the transfer window and with Barcelona still buzzing around Philippe Coutinho, they could reprise their interest.

But if either club is to pull off a move for Aubameyang, who is valued in the region of £65million, they will need to give the striker guarantees over his role – something Liverpool may find easier than Chelsea.

‘If I leave, it will only be somewhere I would play regularly,’ said the 28-year-old.

Last season Aubameyang bagged 31 goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances, taking his total to 86 in 129 for Borussia Dortmund.
